Statuette of the Father of the PERE ethnie in the DRC. According to local sources, this type of object is used by the initiation society LILWA during initiation and circumcision rites. Initiation was given to young boys. The boys of the age to be circumcised were taken into the bush to develop their endurance, courage, and discipline. They undertook various trials, including fasting, before learning the initiates' secrets of the LILWA society.
