【Product details】

Experience the elegance of Meiji-era artistry with this pair of exquisite lacquered trays, each adorned with a landscape scene of Mount Fuji using maki-e technique against a rich black lacquer. Capturing the tranquility of a solitary boat floating on the water and the gentle grace of pine trees, these trays evoke a sense of peace and natural beauty. The pine tree symbolizes endurance and longevity, while Mount Fuji stands as an iconic emblem of Japan, representing strength and eternal beauty.

Though these trays exude timeless beauty, a closer inspection reveals the subtle marks of their journey through time: a slight warping causing a minor unsteadiness, and the wear on the silver edges. On the reverse, there is a crack, a testament to the trays' long history. The lid of the wooden box is warped and does not close properly. These characterful signs of age are detailed in the accompanying photographs. Despite these, the trays are in reasonable condition, carrying the legacy of their era and the deep meanings of their motifs.

Dimensions: approx. H 3 cm W 30.3 cm L 20 cm
