Grisot was born in Paris. On his family's advice he pursued engineering and even took a job in Besançon, France. However, he cherished a secret passion for art and eventually enrolled at the École des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. After studying there for a year, he transferred to the École des Beaux-Arts, where he earned a diploma as a drawing instructor. He began a career as a painting and drawing teacher but soon left that to focus on his own art. In 1942 he held his first solo exhibition in Paris, which was under German occupation at the time. After the war he spent some time in Tunisia, and then toured the world to exhibit his paintings: Germany, Belgium, Sweden, and the United States. He exhibited frequently in Paris at the Salon des Indépendants and with the Paris School, the group that included Vlaminck, Raoul Dufy and Villon. He is also known for his hat and perfume advertisements for Christian Dior, and as a fashion illustrator for the magazine L’Officiel de la Mode et de la Couture.
Viewings are of course possible. Additionally, we have our own in-house framing workshop, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary. The condition only concerns the work and not the frame. Damage to the frame before, during, or after shipping is not covered. Furthermore, we work with restorers from the industry organization: 'Restauratoren Nederland'. If you wish to make use of this service, we would of course be happy to hear from you.
