Der Alexandersarkophag aus Sidon von Franz Winter. Mit achtzehn Tafeln. Strassburg: Karl J. Trübner, 1912

The Alexander Sarcophagus from Sidon by Franz Winterord, Professor at the University of Strasbourg (Schriften der Wissenschaftlichen Gesellschaft in Strasbourg 15.). Format 57 X 50 cm. 18 pages of text and 18 plates in facsimile colour collotype. Presentation in original folder. A very good copy of this extremely rare document (there are no other copies for sale or at auction anywhere in the world)

The Alexander Sarcophagus is one of the finest monuments of ancient art that has been preserved. Professor Winter was able to produce and supervise the photographs of the sarcophagus in Constantinople, where the work of art is now kept, with the utmost care. The facsimile colour collotype, executed by the Albert Frisch company in Berlin, faithfully reproduces the magnificent harmony of the whole.
