Description from the seller

Original etching&drypoint by Rembrandt

The Baptism of the Eunuch (1641)

A very fine impression from a slightly later (late 17th-century to early 18th-century) printing on handmade laid paper with countermark, trimmed to the image on three sides and slightly shaved along the upper edge (as often). With a few areas of thinning, small losses in the lower right corner, a minor tear along the upper margin, a pinched fold, and tiny tears along the right edge.

Watermark: scroll with the initials MA (or AM), double-wired, separated by a four-leafed clover

Catalogue raisonné: New Hollstein 186, iii/iv (before new cross-shading on the cascade)
Size: 16.8 × 21.3 cm

Provenance: Collection of Marquis Alphonse d’Aoust (1819–1909), then by descent, until auction sale by Oger & Blanchet in 2025.
