Brand Sheaffer, Balance model (pre–Triumph), made of celluloid, originated in the United States, in good used condition and in working order.
Description from the seller
This Sheaffer Balance equipped with a FeatherTouch No. 5 nib is in remarkable condition, retaining its original aesthetic and the refined character that distinguishes the Balance models from the late 1930s. Its celluloid body features a uniform dark finish, with a deep shine and visible veins under light, with no signs of discoloration or fractures, which is exceptional for a piece from these decades.
The cap remains solid and well-fitted, with a golden clip engraved SHEAFFER’S that maintains its alignment and firmness. The plating shows slight and uniform wear, typical of careful use, with no significant loss of the gold finish. The central band also exhibits moderate wear but retains its shape, structural integrity, and good shine.
The body engraving remains legible, evidence that the pen has not been subjected to excessive polishing. The threads are clean, without play, and the closure between the body and cap is firm. The end of the barrel and the section area retain their well-defined lines.
The FeatherTouch 5 nib in 14K gold, one of the most appreciated for its smoothness and performance, is in excellent condition:
The section and the ebonite feeder maintain their integrity, with the fins well defined and undamaged.
The Vac-Fil system, complete and with a rod in good condition, has not been tested to preserve its integrity; as with all fountain pens of this era, a seal check is recommended if you wish to use it regularly.
Overall, this specimen represents a highly collectible piece, with an elegant aesthetic presence and a very attractive overall condition. Its combination of dark celluloid, FeatherTouch #5 nib, and Vac-Fil system makes it a model especially sought after by collectors and enthusiasts of Sheaffer.
It will be sent in a courtesy box for proper preservation.
