C. DA SILVA, Dalva 50 Years Old Tawny Port 1 x 0.75L
DESCRIPTION
In 1933, having just arrived from Brazil, Clemente da Silva realized his lifelong dream, creating an excellent wine house that would lead him to the globalization of his business: C. da Silva – resulting from the abbreviation of his name. A year later he registered the brand Dalva, which results from the contraction “da Silva”. With a simple and very Portuguese sound, success was easy to achieve in different markets.
Looking for an activity in which to invest the capital from his business in Brazil, the young entrepreneur takes advantage of the close collaboration with the company Corrêa Ribeiro e Filhos, founded in 1862, and owned by his wife's family, to build up his initial stocks and give the first steps in the business, with Vintage Ports from 1896, 1912 or 1920 being famous.
Combining centuries-old knowledge and techniques with new technologies and innovation, Dalva's portfolio is unique and distinct, presenting an unparalleled offer of Colheita Port Wines, which include unique and limited editions, the classic Vintage Port Wines, and a range exclusive range of White Port Wines, culminating in the aged and dated Golden White and Dry White collection.
WINEMAKER: José Manuel Sousa Soares.
AWARDS/RECOMMENDATIONS
19.5 Points, Vinho Grandes Escolhas
Excellence Award, Notícias Magazine
WINE VARIETIES: Traditional from the Douro, such as Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Sousão.
VINIFICATION
The fermentation process is interrupted at the ideal time, according to the method traditional Port Wine production, which includes stopping fermentation through the addition of brandy of wine origin. This 50 Years Old Tawny Port wine originates in batches of different quality wines superior, aged in casks for periods variables, giving rise to a wine with a tawny, with evolved aromas, presenting a profile in the tasting of a 50-year-old wine.
TASTING NOTES
Porto Dalva 50 years is a reflection of the historical heritage of the C. da Silva house. The wealth of very old wines, combined with knowledge, resulted in a Port of remarkable complexity and refinement. It has an amber appearance, with a golden edge and greenish hues. On the nose, evolved aromas of fruit stand out, especially plums and dried figs, roasted almonds, with a spicy side of curry. Very unique, multiple sensations unfold throughout the tasting, with sweet spices, such as nutmeg, appearing in the mouth, combined with lively acidity and fresh citrus notes. It ends very intense, balanced, with notes of marzipan.
SERVING
A complete Porto, to be enjoyed alone. It should be served between 12ºC and 16ºC. Consume in moderation.
