Max Peiffer Watenphul (1896-1976).
Untitled, 1972.
Stone lithograph on heavyweight paper, signed and numbered by the German artist.
With the publisher's double stamp, watermark, and justification label on the back.
Published by Galería dei Greci, Edizioni e Stampa D'Árte, 1972.
Print run of 100 copies and 20 artist's proofs.
Size: 71.5 x 50 cm.
Catalogue raisonné: Pasqualucci 121.
This is a sample of the graphic work of the Bauhaus student artist, a friend and companion of Joseph Alberts, Paul Klee, Wassily Kandinsky, Otto Dix, and Max Ernst. He was a tireless traveler in search of inspiration, which he found primarily during his numerous visits to Italy. A "degenerate" in 1937 Munich for the Nazis, he was finally recognized in his own country in the 1960s and a leading figure in the European avant-garde between the wars.
