AWARDS/RECOMMENDATIONS
93 Points, Wine Spectator
92 Points, CellarTracker
91 Points, Wine & Spirits Magazine
90 Points, Wine Enthusiast
17 Points, Vinho Grandes Escolhas

WINE VARIETIES: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Francesa, Tinta Roriz, Tinto Cão & Sousão.

HARVEST
The harvest was then divided into two periods: 29th of August until the 4th of September. Then a break between the 5th and the 18th of September. We restarted on the 19th of September and ended the harvest on the 16th of October. The harvest turned out to be a successful one and the wines we produced show remarkable character and balance.

VINIFICATION
The grapes were trodden by foot and fermented in the traditional lagares of the Quinta, where a disciplined and intense treading is fundamental for a good final result. The Colheitas are aged in old barrels called cascos, with a capacity of 640 litres, until the moment of bottling.

TASTING NOTES
The Colheita 2005 has a complex nose that combines nuttiness with elegant fruit. It has a silky texture with a soft tannic backbone. Some exotic flavours and caramel on the palate provide a lingering finish. This excellent Colheita Port offers a full, sweet, rich and smooth taste that lingers for a long time. Enjoy this Colheita Port with cheeses and almond tart.

SERVING TEMPERATURE
9°-14°C

HISTORY
The name of Quinta do Noval first appeared in land registries in 1715. The history of Quinta do Noval is marked by the action of visionaries: António José da Silva, a port shipper from Porto, acquired Quinta do Noval in 1894, after its devastation by phylloxera. He restored the property by replanting the vines. Luiz Vasconcelos Porto, his son-in-law, was the author of a vast programme of innovations. He transformed many of the narrow older terraces into broader terraces. This permitted a more efficient use of the land and a better exposition to the sun. Quinta do Noval made its name with the declaration of the 1931 Quinta do Noval Vintage Port, and the 1931 Quinta do Noval Nacional Vintage Port. Because of the global depression and the enormous production and shipment of the 1927 Vintage, most shippers did not declare the 1931. This success established Quinta do Noval among the great names of Vintage Port in the English and American markets, a leading position in terms of reputation which is maintained today. Since 1993, Quinta do Noval is part of the international viticultural group of AXA Millésimes.
