Eight items dating to 1960–1970, made from wood, velvet, canvas and brass, originating from Italy.
Description from the seller
A rare and fascinating collection composed of eight (8) vintage miniatures of various shapes and styles, created between the late 19th century and the early 20th century.
These eight specimens are small chests of beauty, witnesses to an art that encompassed vast landscapes and delicate floral compositions in perfect sizes to be admired in solitude or as precious souvenirs. Coming from the salons of southern Italy, each miniature is a whisper of history, a romantic vision of a bygone world, ready to add timeless elegance to your collection or home wall.
Subjects: The selection includes five (5) landscape views (bucolic landscapes, glimpses with architecture) and three (3) depictions of floral compositions.
Technique: Miste, probably gouache or watercolor on rigid support (paper/canvas).
Frames: The collection features a rich variety of wooden frames, ranging from elegant leaf-gilded (with evident signs of age) to lacquered or finished in red velvet (as seen on two pieces), one of which has a decorated brass edge, and a large oval frame lacquered in pink and gold (the largest piece).
Sizes: The sizes vary, from the smallest oval miniature measuring 14.5 x 11 x 2 cm to the large central oval and rectangular shapes measuring 27 x 23 x 4 cm.
Note for the buyer: Please carefully review the photos for the condition and variety of sizes, which add dynamism to the lot.
Conditions: The items show signs of age that confirm their authenticity and age (patina on gildings, small imperfections, possible cracks in lacquers).
