Description from the seller
Magnificent German Reform 'Original' set, consisting of a fountain pen and matching mechanical pencil, crafted in marbled bicolor celluloid with amber, honey, and black tones of great depth and shine. A representative example of the elegance and artisanal precision of the pre-war German school of writing.
The fountain pen, 96 mm in length and 11 mm in diameter, is in excellent aesthetic and functional condition. Its body and cap feature perfectly preserved celluloid, with no cracks, fissures, or discolorations, and have a shiny, uniform finish. The triple gold rings on the cap retain their original plating, while the teardrop-shaped clip shows only minimal patina, with no loss of tension or deformations.
The solid 14-karat gold nib, engraved with “WARRANTEED 14 KT QUALITY,” remains intact, with an excellent tip and no signs of wear. It offers a smooth, fluid, and slightly flexible writing experience, typical of high-quality German nibs from that era.
The piston filler system functions correctly, with proper displacement and checked sealing.
The mechanical pencil, 93 mm long and 9 mm in diameter, retains its intact structure, with the same matching mottled celluloid. Its smooth, rotating advance mechanism operates with precision and ease, and the golden conical tip is in excellent condition, free of rust or wear. The three central rings and the clip maintain their original bright gold finish.
The set is presented in its original case, lined with purple velvet and beige satin interior, in very good overall condition, with a functional clasp and minimal superficial patina. This detail adds significant historical and collectible value.
Overall, it is an exceptionally well-preserved, complete, and authentic specimen that combines aesthetic beauty, mechanical integrity, and chromatic coherence—attributes rarely found in pieces from this era.
A standout opportunity for the discerning collector who values German quality, artistic celluloid, and factory originality of Reform.
