Corso Leonello's The abstraet wave (2024) is an original acrylic pouring artwork on canvas, 50 × 70 cm and 3 kg, depicting a marine landscape in abstract expressionism, hand-signed and dated on the back, sold directly from the artist.
Description from the seller
This abstract work is a magnificent example of fluid art, created entirely by hand by the artist Corso Leonello. The painting captures the energy and calmness of the water element, focusing on the hypnotic movement of a wave that recedes or wraps around itself. The composition is dominated by an intense palette of blue and turquoise.
Leonello carried out this work using the pouring technique, which allows for an organic and unpredictable blending of colors, essential for simulating the nature of water.
Professional acrylic colors were used to ensure the brightness and saturation of the pigments. The casting technique exploits the different specific weights of the colors to create the cells and marbled effects visible in the details of the wave crests.
The fabric is divided between a broad area of uniform turquoise (serving as a background or calm water mass) and the dynamic wave area. The wave is composed of shades of cobalt blue, ultramarine, pure white (to simulate foam), and dark touches of black, even fine golden or silver veins that catch the light like sea salt.
The painting was created to flow in a way that forms a spiral or a hook-shaped wave opening outward. The inner part of the spiral keeps the turquoise smooth, symbolizing the calmness of the seabed or the back of the wave, while the outer edge is an explosion of whirlpools and movement.
The work is finished with a professional glossy varnish.
This finish is crucial for the pouring technique, as it gives the acrylic a glassy effect, amplifying the perception of depth and the illusion of a wet surface just like seawater.
The work is highly evocative, conveying a sense of natural power and meditative serenity at the same time. The contrast between the calm, smooth surface and the intricate chaos of the wave highlights the cycle of nature and the duality of the sea. Leonello's style, in this case, is an ode to the aquatic element, a lyrical abstraction achieved through skillful control of an inherently random technique.
Signed and dated on the back by the artist to guarantee its authenticity.
