Description from the seller
A Japanese six-panel paper screen depicting a pair of pheasants among pine branches, cherry blossoms, and seasonal flowers, set against a beautifully oxidized silver-leaf background.
The composition, marked by elegant decorative balance, portrays the two birds beside slender pine branches while a few chidori (plovers) fly gracefully across the scene.
The natural oxidation of the silver leaf gives the background a refined tonal depth and a precious aged patina, enhancing the contrast with the vivid colours of the plumage and surrounding vegetation.
The panels are framed by two elegant silk borders, while a lacquered wooden frame completes and protects the screen.
The screen can also be easily mounted on a wall or used as a room divider.
Byōbu (屏風), literally “wind protection screens,” are traditional Japanese folding screens originally created to divide spaces and today appreciated above all as striking wall-mounted paintings.
--- The byōbu is in good condition, with minor wear consistent with age. Some restorations and visible signs of age are present on the surface, particularly along the joints between the panels. There is wear to the wooden frame, and the paper backing shows some damage. Please refer to the pictures for further details.
The item will be carefully packed and shipped via DHL or FedEx, accompanied by the original certificate of authenticity issued by Mastromauro Japanese art gallery based in Milan, Italy.
