Sheaffer Lifetime – Flat Top fountain pen in jade marbled celluloid cap and brown‑gold body, lever‑fill mechanism, gold clip with White Dot, made in the United States, dating to the mid‑20th century, in good used condition and in working order.
Description from the seller
The fountain pen is in very solid condition for a piece made approximately a century ago, maintaining essential elements of authenticity and aesthetic coherence between the cap, body, and fittings.
The cap, made of jade-colored mottled celluloid, retains a notable shine and a well-defined internal texture, indicating that the material has not suffered severe degradation. The gold clip maintains its shape and firmness, with slight superficial wear typical of its age, while the upper White Dot is present and intact. The wide gold band shows micro-scratches and small signs of use, normal for pieces from this era and not affecting the structural stability of the cap.
The body in golden brown marbled celluloid exhibits good color uniformity and an still-visible pattern, indicating that the material retains its original properties. It shows slight surface marks, consistent with prolonged use and storage, but no cracks, fractures, or deformations are apparent. The joint between the body and the cap is firm and precise.
The lever loading system is complete and visually in good condition. The lever operates smoothly externally with no excessive play, indicative of a well-maintained mechanism; however, as is customary with vintage celluloid pens, the internal condition of the sac cannot be certified without maintenance intervention.
The gold nib, with a well-defined Sheaffer engraving, shows a clean surface with no signs of corrosion. The hoods remain properly aligned, and no deformations are observed. The feed, made of ebonite, displays sharp striations and no visible signs of obstructions or severe wear.
Overall, the pen is presented in very good aesthetic and structural condition, with a remarkable level of preservation for its age and no critical damages to the sensitive material of the celluloid. It is a piece that combines visual appeal, historical integrity, and potential functionality, making it ideal for collection or light restoration.
It will be sent in a courtesy box for proper preservation.
