Description from the seller
The Lone Pine
School: Spanish (20th century)
Author: Francesc Gimeno (attributed). Spanish post-impressionist painter, known for his energetic brushwork, expressive use of color, and depiction of Mediterranean landscapes loaded with emotional intensity.
Style: Post-Impressionism
Technique: Oil on panel
A work of marked atmospheric intensity depicting a Mediterranean coastal landscape dominated by a pine with twisted branches that emerges strongly in the foreground. The composition shows a cliff bathed by a turbulent sea, with deep tones and contrasts that evoke the dramatic character of nature. The sky, cloudy and dense, adds a melancholic air that enhances the expressiveness of the scene. The broad, dynamic brushwork, as well as the attention to the light effect on the vegetation and rocks, are characteristic features of the painterly language attributed to Gimeno.
Old wooden carved frame, finished with gold leaf, featuring raised vegetal ornamentation. It presents a classic design with a solemn aesthetic that enhances the chromatic depth of the landscape. The frame comes as a gift. It may incur damage during transport even if properly packaged.
Remarks:
It presents minor faults.
Measurements: 50 x 60 cm
Measurements with frame: 68 x 80 cm
