Description from the seller
Ruud Schoemaker (1959) is a Dutch artist best known for his expressive painting style and the use of powerful color contrasts. In his work, the tension between abstraction and recognizable forms plays an important role. Schoemaker paints intuitively and is guided by movement, rhythm, and the tactile quality of paint, which gives his canvases a strong physical and emotional charge.
His body of work demonstrates a continuous quest for freedom within composition, where color fields, dynamic brushstrokes, and layering alternate. This creates a visual language that is both energetic and poetic. Schoemaker continues to develop and is active within the Dutch art world, where his work is regularly exhibited.
This work is a powerful example of his expressive approach. With thick, paste-like brushstrokes and a vibrant spectrum of colors, Schoemaker constructs a dynamic, almost pulsating composition. The organic shapes and rhythmic movements suggest an intuitive flow of energy, in which figuration and abstraction continually touch but never fully reveal themselves. The result is a painting that invites the viewer to discover new connections, structures, and emotions again and again.
Dimensions with frame: 98 x 98 cm
Dimensions of the work without frame: 61 x 61 cm.
Viewing is, of course, possible. Additionally, we have our own in-house framing workshop, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary. Furthermore, we collaborate with restorers from the professional organization: 'Restauratoren Nederland'. If you wish to make use of this service, we would of course be happy to hear from you.
