Description from the seller
Over Ingo Leth
Ingo Leth has been an artist for over thirty years and has a gallery based in Emmen. Leth grew up in the German city of Duisburg, where he completed a graphic design program in the 1980s. In 1989, he moved to the Netherlands.
The passion for painting plays an important role in Leth's life. Both abstract and figurative work are very close to his heart. He also sees it as a privilege that he has the gift to work both abstractly and realistically. 'You must be able to think beyond what exists. Then you are a true artist in my opinion.'
In his works, Leth always tries to establish a connection between cultures. Dutch and Japanese cultures often attract his interest and attention.
Regarding cultures, he believes that we can learn a lot from each other's differences. In particular, Japanese culture appeals to him because people there have such respect for art and culture.
If you say you are an artist in the Netherlands, they ask if you can make a living from it. If you say you are an artist in Japan, they express their appreciation because you are a free thinker, someone who dares to think differently.
Leth works with oil paint or acrylic paint on canvas, combined with natural materials such as paper, sand, or gold leaf. "In my work, there is a balance between calm and energy. I see color as a means of communication."
