VALLECCHI, a publishing house that celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2003, commissioned designer Ettore Sottsass to create Stella, a limited-edition pen designed to highlight the Vallecchi style and thus the essence of twentieth-century Italy. Stella is first and foremost a sculpture, for its refined beauty, but it is also an object with fabulous technical and functional qualities: the pedestal is made of steel and wood and supports a transparent cylinder housing the fountain pen, with its two-tone gold nib.
The Milan Triennale has chosen it to be part of the Permanent Collection of Italian Design.
Ettore Sottsass (Innsbruck, 14 September 1917 – Milan, 31 December 2007) was an Italian architect, designer and photographer.
"If anything will save us, it will be beauty."
