with signature and seal 'Seiho' 青峰
This atmospheric hanging scroll depicts a tranquil winter landscape: a five-storey pagoda rising gently among snow-covered trees and hills, with a Shinto shrine, torii gate, and pond with ducks completing the serene composition. The scene evokes themes of spiritual quietude, seasonal stillness, and architectural harmony with nature. The scroll bears the signature and seal of Ikezawa Seiho, and is mounted in patterned silk with cloud motifs that complement the snowy ambiance. The inclusion of a wooden storage box enhances its value for preservation and presentation. A refined example of mid-20th-century Japanese landscape painting, ideal for collectors of seasonal art, temple and shrine motifs, or works that celebrate the quiet beauty of winter.
