Description from the seller

2008 Justino's Colheita Boal Madeira 3 x 0.75L
3 Bottles
Madeira Wine

DESCRIPTION
"Justino’s Madeira Wines, S.A." was formed as a limited company in 1953, although it had been in existence since 1870 in Madeira as a private family company, when it was known as "Justino Henriques". This makes it one of the oldest producers and exporters of Madeira Wine, internationally known for the quality of its wines. In 1993, it became internationalized, making an association with one of the larger French groups of wine and spirit distribution – C.O.F.E.E.P also knows as La Martiniquaise - building a new winery with the intention of improving the conditions in which its wines are made, in particular the process of vinification, production and aging. This large, modern and functional winery has been equipped so as to combine traditional methods with the most advanced technology available. Today, Justino’s Madeira holds one of the largest stocks of Madeira wine on the island, including high quality wines aged in oak casks, which enables the company to meet the requirement of the most demanding and selective consumers. Over the years, Justino’s Madeira Wines, S.A. has become one of the leading producers and exporters of Madeira Wine thanks to the acknowledged quality of its wines and the substantial increase in its production capacity.

WINEMAKERS: Dina Luís, Juan Teixeira & Flávia Rosário.

WINE VARIETIES: Boal (100%).

VINIFICATION
Manual harvest, with qualitative selection, over several weeks depending on the state of maturation. Total stalking, crushing and pressing. Open spout winemaking. Fermented entirely in stainless steel vats. Interruption of fermentation by adding wine alcohol (96º). Addition of wine alcohol made after 4 - 5 days of fermentation to maintain the desired amount of sugars. Winemaking using traditional methods. Aged using the traditional Canteiro system, in French and American oak barrels of different capacities.

TASTING NOTES
Christmas cake, burnt caramel orange blossom, candied fruit with balanced acidity and a warm savoury finish. The Boal variety (Malvasia Fina in mainland Portugal) produces semi-sweet, medium-bodied and rich wines, which are highly appreciated for their acidity/sweetness balance and their characteristic aroma acquired during aging in casks. This Colheita Boal 2008 corresponds to a year that proved capable of highlighting, not only the characteristics of the grape variety, but also the impact of on-site aging. A distinct Madeira, with passion, soul and a lot of heart.

SERVING
Excellent when served with cheeses, tropical fruits, cakes, custard tarts, fruit tarts, butter cookies and berries. As an aperitif, serve at a temperature of 10ºC; as a dessert wine, serve at 16ºC.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a recurring auction. The seal number(s) you see on the photos might differ from the one(s) on your bottle(s).
