Description from the seller
Willem van Scheijndel (1954–2015) was a Dutch artist, best known for his work in painting, but also active in other disciplines such as sculpture and graphic design. Van Scheijndel had a distinctive style influenced by his interest in geometry and abstraction. His work was often minimalist, playing with lines, shapes, and color.
Van Scheijndel began his art education at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam and developed into a well-established name within the Dutch art scene during the 1980s and 1990s. He was also involved in various collaborative projects, exhibitions, and influenced the design of spaces and objects.
One of the characteristic aspects of his work was the way he approached spaces and structures. He examined the relationship between the object and the environment, and the visual tension between the space and the viewer. This often led to works where the boundary between artwork and environment blurred.
Van Scheijndel's work was exhibited in both national and international exhibitions, and he had a significant influence in the world of abstract art.
His work is often appreciated for its refinement and intellectual character, and his influence is still evident in contemporary art practices.
