An attractive Nagoya wooden chôba’dansu 帳場箪笥 (merchant’s document cabinet) composed of two sections, fully restored, cleaned, and waxed in Japan.

Crafted from indigenous hinoki 檜 (cypress) wood, the cabinet is finished in a sought-after light brown hue, often referred to as “golden oak.”

The upper section is configured with two pairs of sliding doors fitted with rectangular patinated copper thumb grips. The lower section comprises eight drawers of varying sizes, a sliding door with horizontal bars adorned with a reticulated floral motif, and a hinged door equipped with a concealed locking mechanism. A horizontal bar can be slid sideways to secure it. All drawers are fitted with warabite-shaped iron handles.

The drawers and sliding doors glide smoothly, offering ample capacity for convenient storage.

Period: Japan – Meiji period, around 1900.
Dimensions:
Height 176.2 cm (Top 87.8 cm, Bottom 88.4 cm), Width 103.2 cm, Depth 43.8 cm.

In very good restored condition, with some superficial scratches to the front. No keys included. Please refer to the photos for a clear condition reference.
