A fascinating tall six-panel byôbu 屏風 (folding screen) showcasing a tranquil sansui’ga 山水画 (landscape painting) rendered on a luminous golden silk background.
The composition presents a sweeping waterscape with distant mountain peaks rising along the horizon. In the foreground, the viewer appears to gaze from a wooded mountainside dotted with pine trees, looking down upon a calm shoreline where thatched-roof houses nestle among the trees and fishing boats rest nearby.
