Description from the seller
JOHN LENNON EXHIBITION CANVAS)
Title:
John Lennon – One-off Exhibition Canvas by Bill Zygmant – Signed – 72 × 61 cm – Unique Artist’s Display Piece
Description
Offered here is an exceptionally rare one-off exhibition canvas created from Bill Zygmant’s composite portrait of John Lennon, combining two of Bill’s most iconic photographs from 1968 and 1970.
This work was produced exclusively for display at Bill Zygmant’s own exhibitions and public talks, where he presented his Beatles photography and life story. It was never commercially sold, and this specific canvas exists as a single unique display piece.
The image shows:
• John Lennon at the white piano (1968) – a classic Zygmant photograph from the late Beatles period.
• John Lennon in fur coat and necklace (1970) – a post-Beatles portrait capturing Lennon during a key transition in his artistic life.
Bill combined both eras into a powerful two-decade montage, demonstrating his own creative input as well as his direct access to Lennon during the 1960s and early 1970s.
The canvas is hand-signed by Bill Zygmant and marked 1/100, although it is important to note that no edition was ever produced. This was Bill’s standard signature practice, but this canvas itself is the only one ever printed for exhibition use.
