Oil painting on canvas titled Paisaje bucólico from the European School in the 19th century, in the Romantic landscape style, Europe, sold with frame.
Description from the seller
Bucolic Landscape
School: Europea (late 19th century)
Landscape Romanticism style
Technique: Oil on canvas adhered to board
The present bucolic landscape, typical of the European Romantic tradition of the 19th century, depicts an idealized scene where classical architecture in ruins and nature blend in a serene and evocative environment. In the foreground, several stylized trees rise, their canopies softly diffusing into a morning sky. To the left, columns and structures inspired by classical architecture are partially ruined, reinforcing the atmosphere of antiquity and contemplation.
In the central area, a watercourse flows calmly towards the background, where a small circular building reminiscent of Italianate temples, often depicted in Romantic landscape art, appears. To the right, an incomplete or partially sunken wooden fence adds a narrative touch, suggesting the passage of time and abandonment. The warm light from the background softly illuminates the composition, giving depth and an overall sense of melancholic harmony.
Old period frame, possibly original, carved in wood with relief vegetal ornamentation and a gold finish. It features classic moldings and an aged patina that matches its antiquity, adding elegance and aesthetic coherence with the romantic character of the piece.
Remarks:
The frame comes as a gift. It may be damaged during transport even if it is properly packaged.
Exceptional shipping costs may be affected by an additional charge due to reasons such as being outside a mainland territory, excess dimensions, or weight of the item. Under no circumstances will PremiArt cover this additional cost.
