NO RESERVE Witte huizen bij de sluis van Oudewater, an oil painting on canvas from 1910–1920, Netherlands origin, sold with frame.
Description from the seller
NO RESERVE
Louis Stutterheim was born as the third child of the Rotterdam pharmacist Christiaan Lodewijk Willem Stutterheim and Jacoba Sack. The Lutheran family lived above the pharmacy, initially in Vischsteeg, later on Westersingel.
The young Louis attended lessons at the Rotterdam Academy of Fine Arts after Mulo, where he was a classmate of Kees van Dongen, but his father wanted him to work in the office. In 1904, now living in The Hague, he definitively swapped the business world for the artist's life. Fellow Rotterdammers August Willem van Voorden and Gerard Altmann took him to paint in the lake district areas around Noorden and Kortenhoef. Stutterheim was impressed by the polder landscapes and would later mainly work in the vicinity of Kortenhoef. He is therefore considered one of the Kortenhoef painters.
Louis Stutterheim was a member of the Vereniging Sint Lucas, Arti et Amicitiae, Gooische Schildersvereniging, and Vereniging voor Beeldende Kunsten Laren-Blaricum.
Oil painting on canvas, canvas size 48x65cm. Incorrectly listed by age but in very good condition. The frame has minimal signs of use and is included free of charge with pickup. Shipping is without frame due to size, weight, and fragility.
Work is carefully packaged and shipped internationally by registered mail.
