Description from the seller
Æ (XX–XXI) – “Jiji: Nocturnes of Ink & Whisker” (Triptych X3) – Hand-painted, signed, numbered, and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity (refs. 1715 1716 1721).
Æ’s monochrome triptych reimagines Jiji, the iconic black cat, as both guardian and wanderer — a quiet spirit moving between folklore, memory, and night. Rendered in stark black and white, the works blend Japanese woodblock sensibility with eroded mezzotint textures and soft cosmic grain, creating a dreamlike visual rhythm.
Each panel captures a distinct nocturne: watchfulness, companionship, and flight. Together, they form a poetic constellation of curiosity and resilience, where ink, shadow, and silence converge into a timeless feline myth.
• Total Size: 37 x 66 cm | 14.6 x 8.9 in. (each artwork: 37 x 22 cm).
• Original Art: Unique ink-style piece by Æ, highly collectible with only 10 variations.
• Medium: Hand-painted using spray paint and pastel crayons, signed and numbered.
• Certification: Includes a holographic seal of authenticity on the certificate card.
• Materials: Crafted on acid-free Hahnemühle rice paper for Sumi-e (Japanese for “black ink”) to ensure archival quality.
• Direct Sale: Sold and shipped directly from the artist’s studio—a great investment!
• Edition: Limited and authorized, with a registration ID in the artist’s official catalog.
About the Artist:
Æ, a Barcelona-based artist and designer, earned degrees in Digital Design and Multimedia Technologies (2004) and East Asian Studies. Fascinated by digital mediums from an early age, Æ developed a distinct aesthetic influenced by minimalism, conceptual art, and skateboard graphics.
His works are held in private collections across over 30 countries, including The Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. Æ’s pieces have also been acquired by prestigious public collections, such as the Oriental Art Collection at the Zaragoza Museum (2024), which houses Spain’s most significant Eastern art archive.
Æ’s art is renowned for its minimalist approach, using a restrained palette and high-contrast imagery to evoke powerful emotions and explore themes like isolation, duality, and timelessness. His signature style incorporates stark contrasts, East Asian symbols, and iconic cultural imagery, compelling viewers to confront profound ideas with minimal visuals.
Critical Acclaim:
Thierry Fournier of Artnoises praised Æ’s work, describing it as:
“A transgression of borders, merging the DNA of civilization’s past and future. Æ creates a ticket for emotional teleportation—a minimalist aesthetic that propels us into a rich, timeless void filled with unexplored signs and symbols.”
Additional Information:
• Shipping: Immediate shipping upon payment with full insurance. Combined shipping is available for multiple purchases to reduce costs.
