AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Beautiful miniature of the Portuguese carrack 'São Gabriel' (San Gabriel), made in 1490 based on a design by Bartolomeo Diaz.
The Gaelone was used by explorer Vasco de Gama, who, departing in 1497 from Portugal, reached India, rounding the Cape of Good Hope.
Entirely handmade between 1960 and 1970, the model is a highly faithful reproduction of the Portuguese ship, made entirely of wood with some painted parts, complete with three masts and canvas sails. The attention to detail and finishing is truly remarkable! Well-preserved and intact! Some signs of aging characterize it, making this piece a true work of art! It rests on a solid wooden base with a plaque in ancient Gothic script.
A magnificent collectible model with impressive dimensions (height 80 cm, width 83 cm, depth around 35 cm) and a strong visual impact!
Ideal for a prestigious salon!
