AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Murano, attributed to Vincenzo Nason & C.

Elegant Murano blown glass vase, attributed to the renowned furnace Vincenzo Nason & C., made between the late 20th century and the early 2000s.

Handcrafted piece characterized by a refined color gradient from cobalt blue to milk white, with an extremely thick transparent glass base.

The vase features a trumpet shape with a wide opening and a very thin rim, achieved through highly skilled hot working. The upper part is finely thinned (about 2.5–3 mm), while the base has a thickness exceeding one centimeter, a distinctive trait of high-quality Murano artistic production.

The base is perfectly smooth and cold-polished, with no visible pontil, as is typical of the signature or high-end productions of the Nason furnace.

There are very tiny internal bubbles — a natural characteristic of handmade craftsmanship — which further confirm its artisanal origin.

Why is attribution to Vincenzo Nason & C. consistent?

The attribution is based on a series of technical and stylistic elements that correspond precisely to the production of V. Nason & C.

Typical chromatic shading of Nason.

The soft blue → lemon yellow → transparent transition is a signature of the furnace, known for its use of opaline glasses and delicate shades achieved through encased techniques.

Very thick base and perfectly polished.

Nason was renowned for bases of great thickness, very solid, with a complete polishing of the pontil, just like in the present example.

Shape an elegant and modern trumpet.

The slender silhouette with a wide opening appears in many vases attributed to or documented from the furnace, especially between the 1980s and 1990s.

Very thin rim, heat-treated.

The ability to achieve an extremely thin border (2.5–3 mm) is characteristic of high-level Murano manual craftsmanship — a technique often used by Nason in his vases with blended colors.

Presence of microbubbles and light internal waves.

Many Nason pieces display these characteristics due to the manual blowing process, perfectly compatible with this vase.

6. Absence of signature but fully recognizable features

Much of Nason's production—especially pieces intended for export or interior design chains—did not bear a signature but followed styles and techniques that were perfectly identifiable.

These combined elements make attribution to Vincenzo Nason & C. highly plausible.
