Elek Lux (1884-1941), after finishing his studies at the Budapest School of Applied Arts, studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and then at the Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels. In 1922 he became a teacher of sculpture at the Budapest School of Applied Arts.

The object in the photo appears to be made of patinated spelter (a zinc-lead alloy) on a metal base. This was a popular material in the mid-20th century to imitate the look of more expensive bronze. The softer details in the face and limbs are typical for this kind of material.
