Charles Darwin - The Origin of Species - 1920

The Origin of Species By Means of Natural Selection or The Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life By Charles Darwin, M.A., L.L.D., F.R.S. ‘The Origin of Species’ is considered a milestone in scientific progress, and the foundation of evolutionary biology. Darwin's book introduced the scientific theory that populations evolve over the course of generations through a process of natural selection. The book presented a body of evidence that the diversity of life arose by common descent through a branching pattern of evolution. Darwin included evidence that he had collected on the Beagle expedition in the 1830s and his subsequent findings from research, correspondence, and experimentation. Item Description Handsome copy of this scarce title by Darwin, and one of the most important works of scientific study ever published. Text is based on the sixth edition 1872 which was the last version that Darwin worked on before he died. The book is illustrated with portrait frontispiece of Darwin. Published by Odham Press Limited, London, 1920's. Publishers’ original dark brown faux leather boards have a central blind stamped pattern and a border around the edges. With bands and gilt decoration to the spine and further blind stamped motifs in each compartment. Book Dimensions: 19 x 13 cm and Number of Pages: 525 including Index. Condition A very-well preserved copy. Firm and well bound. External covers are clean and in nice shape. Internally; the book in fine condition indeed. No names or inscription. The book is firmly bound with no missing, detached or loose pages (Excellent Copy) (Please see pictures).
