I built this piece around the feeling of an embrace you know won't last forever — the hour when everything looks warmer than it is, when two people hold each other and the clocks around them keep turning anyway. Their clothing carries the same density as the rest of the piece: intricate patchworks of small squares in red, teal, and deep purple, worked with as much care as the faces themselves, so the embrace feels lived-in rather than posed. Gold leaf and heavy impasto run throughout, catching light differently depending on where you stand. This piece continues a theme I keep returning to: closeness between two people, held against something larger and harder to control — in this case, time itself.
