This brand new single malt release from the award-winning Asaka Distillery is a joy to behold. The distillery recently won "World's Best Blended Malt" at the 2022 World Whiskies Awards for their Asaka Blended Malt, showing a lot of promise for their future. This new release is created from majority un-peated, bourbon barrel matured malt, with a small amount of peated malt as well, resulting in a delicious expression that is packing with a compelling range of notes on the nose, palate and finish. Expect lots of charred oak, vanilla, lemongrass, sweet citrus fruits and gentle spices, all backed up by a tiny whiff of peat smoke. A really fine expression from one of Japan's most promising new producers.
