A truly impressive and specialized historical collection of over 150 German banknotes, covering the most turbulent years of German monetary history (1908-1923). This "hoard lot" focuses entirely on the transition from the Imperial Era to the peak of the Great Hyperinflation.
The collection includes:
Imperial Germany & WWI Era: Substantial bundles of large-format 100 and 1000 "Reichsbanknotes" (mostly 1908-1910) and numerous "Darlehenskassenschein" (1914-1922) in denominations of 1, 2, 5, 20, and 50 Mark.
Hyperinflation Peak (1922-1923): Rare high-denomination notes including the iconic 1 Milliarde (Billion) Mark, 50 Million Mark, 20 Million Mark, and various 1 Million and 500,000 Mark issues.
Regional & State Issues: Highly collectible banknotes from Bayerische Notenbank (Bavaria), Württembergische Notenbank, and the city of Karlsruhe (10,000 Mark decorative issue).
Emergency Money (Notgeld): Beautifully designed local issues, including the 50 Pfennig series from Stuttgart and other figurative "Gutschein" notes.
Condition: Mixed grades. Most notes are in circulated condition (F to VF) with typical signs of age (folds, minor tears, or pinholes), while some bundles are in remarkably good shape for the period.
Quantity: Approximately 157+ banknotes (please refer to the extensive photo gallery for exact count and serial varieties).
