Pair of Oak Tables or Stools, Farmhouse Modernist, Netherlands

A charming pair of handmade oak stools. They sit somewhere between rustic farmhouse furniture and modernist simplicity: direct in construction, modest in form, but with an architectural silhouette.

The design is beautifully honest. Each stool has a rectangular seat, slightly splayed side supports and a low stretcher between the legs. The arched cut-outs at the base soften the otherwise straight-lined construction, giving them a small decorative lift.

Both stools are sturdy, stable and very usable. They work well as occasional seating, bedside stools, plant stands, small side tables, or perhaps as decorative accent pieces in a country-modern interior. They have that useful, unpretentious quality of furniture made to serve, and made to last.

The stools are similar in design but not completely identical in tone, which adds to their handmade character. The oak has developed a warm patina over time, with visible signs of age and use. One stool shows slightly more wear to the top surface. Both remain in good, solid condition. They are lightly restored and ready to use.

Condition: good, sturdy and stable, with patina, surface wear and signs of age
