Interesting historical group of banknotes from the short-lived State of Katanga, which existed from 1960 to 1963 in the former Belgian Congo.
The lot includes 6 banknotes issued by the Banque Nationale de Katanga:
1) 10 francs — Élisabethville, 11.2.60
2) 20 francs — Élisabethville, 21.11.60
3) 50 francs — Élisabethville, 10.11.60
4) 100 francs — Élisabethville, 31.10.60
5) 100 francs — Élisabethville, 31.10.60
6) 100 francs — another example of the same issue, with the reverse side visible in the photo
These notes belong to a short and historically important period connected with the independence/secession of Katanga after the dissolution of the Belgian Congo. The notes mention Élisabethville, the historical name of present-day Lubumbashi.
Condition: mixed, approximately from F to VF. The notes show signs of circulation, folds, stains, edge wear and small tears. One 100 francs note has a visible tear/damage in the lower part. Please examine the photos carefully, as they are part of the description.
