Dutch Art Deco Stained Glass Hall Lantern, Amsterdam School, 1920s
A modestly sized Dutch Art Deco hall lantern from the 1920s, executed in stained glass with leaded construction. In Dutch this is called ''glas-in-lood''; in English leaded stained glass.
The lantern has a wonderfully atmospheric design, with panels of textured white, purple and warm orange glass set in a strong geometric lead framework. The composition is lively with its angular lines, small coloured accents, and a softly glowing appearance.
The kind of lamp that can change the mood of a hall, landing or small room without becoming too dominant. It works beautifully in a classic interior, but also as a warm historical accent in a more modern setting. From a high ceiling it could also be hung on a longer chain, where the compact lantern shape would gain even more presence.
The lantern has been rewired and is ready for use.
Condition
Good vintage condition with small signs of age and use. Glass is complete and invery good condition. The metal and leadwork show patina.
