Descrizione del venditore
Vintage brutalist–modernist bronze pendant with chain – Scandinavian style – ca. 1960–1975
Special and pronounced vintage bronze pendant with heavy chain, realized in a characteristic brutalist–modernist style from the 1960s–1970s.
The rectangular pendant has a powerful sculptural design with a strongly raised relief. Sprials, circles, lines, spheres and geometric elements together form an abstract, almost totem-like composition. The different heights in the relief create a beautiful play of light and shadow and give the piece its pronounced architectural character.
The bronze has over the years developed a particularly attractive natural patina, with warm bronze- and copper-toned hues, dark levels and locally greenish oxidation. This authentic patina is consciously preserved and emphasizes the brutalist character of the design.
Scandinavian modernism
The design language shows clear stylistic similarities with Scandinavian and in particular Finnish modernist jewelry from the 1960s–1970s. In this period designers frequently experimented with bronze, strong surface textures, organic geometry and abstract symbolism.
The style aligns with the broader Finnish jewelry tradition in which designers such as Pentti Sarpaneva and Hannu Ikonen and manufacturers like Kalevala Koru were active.
These names are mentioned solely as stylistic references. As far as visible, no maker’s mark has been found and the pendant is therefore not attributed to a specific designer or manufacturer.
The substantial chain complements the pendant in terms of robust appearance and patina, making the whole a powerful statement jewelry piece.
