Cyprus Pounds Banknote Set (Last Pre-Euro Series) — £5, £10, £20 The official Central Bank rate in 2008 was €1.71 = £1.00. Therefore £35 was equivilant to €59.85 Never Circulated. Only Stored. A three-note set from the final series of Cypriot pound banknotes, issued by the Central Bank of Cyprus (Κεντρική Τράπεζα της Κύπρου) shortly before the island adopted the euro on 1 January 2008. All three notes were officially demonetized and are no longer exchangeable, making them a neat "last issue" collector's set. £5 – Five Pounds (Πέντε Λίρες), issued 1.9.2003 — Pick 61 Purple and violet on a multicoloured underprint. Obverse shows a bust from the "Aphrodite of Soli" statue; reverse depicts the Selimiye Mosque in Nicosia. Serial: R933243. £10 – Ten Pounds (Δέκα Λίρες), issued 1.4.2005 — Pick 62 Predominantly green. Obverse shows a Roman-period marble head of Artemis found in Paphos, alongside the Cyprus coat of arms and the national cyclamen flower. Reverse depicts native Cypriot fauna and flora — the Cyprus warbler, Cyprus mouflon, green sea turtle, and Paphos Blue butterfly. Watermark: bust of Aphrodite. Serial: BX919495. £20 – Twenty Pounds (Είκοσι Λίρες), issued 1.4.2004 — Pick 63 Blue, orange, pink and green. Obverse shows the bust of the Aphrodite of Soloi statue and a stylised bird from ancient Cypriot pottery art. Reverse depicts a Phoenician-style Kyrenia boat with Aphrodite's Rock (Petra tou Romiou) in the background, plus ancient amphorae. Serial: AH839664. Printer: De La Rue, England (all three notes) Condition: All three are crisp with strong colour and sharp corners from the photos. Some slight crumble on the top of the £20 and £10 due to storage, easily fixed. Never came out of the plastic seal.
