At the age of twenty Mauricio left Colombia and went to France. In Paris he attended the Ecole Supérieure des Beaux Arts for four years and the Ecole Supérieure des Arts Decoratives for two years. Thereafter he continued his own research and became a free artist.
Gebruik van o.a. was, bamboe, reepjes rijstpapier, plantaardige materialen, lagen van pigmenten en oxides.
Het werk werd in 1998 door de kunstenaar geschonken als vergoeding voor tijdelijk verblijf in woning in Amsterdam. Het doek is gesignieerd aan de achterzijde en draagt orginele prijskaartje van 1800 gulden.
