Labelled Oskar Machold - 4/4 - - Violino - Germania - 1962
On offer is an old fine full sized master violin, made and labeled: "Oskar Machold Geigenbaumeister Chemnitz i Sa Anno 1962 O.M.". The instrument is ready to play with grafted scroll, finest ebony set up, old master made bridge and pirastro strings. Some old professionally repaired (not visible) cracks. The tone is powerful, sweet, rich, clear as a bell and focused with many colors to work with. It is responsive and even in all ranges. The violin has two pieces back made from beautiful flamed maple; the table is likewise matching of high quality, straight high grained spruce. The purfling has been painstakingly inlaid front and back. Original golden brown varnish over lighter ground remains in good condition.
The whole length of the violin is 59 cm and the back 35,9 cm.
The width of the upper bouts: 16,7 cm; middle bouts: 11,5 cm; lower bouts: 20,6 cm.
