Swivel office chair with five-star base on castors, designed by Charles & Ray Eames and manufactured by Herman Miller in the late 1960s. The chair features a chromed aluminium frame with softly padded seat and backrest, upholstered in black pigmented cowhide leather. As part of the Soft Pad series, the EA 219 represents a classic example of Mid-Century Modern corporate design, created for executive and institutional environments. According to its original inventory label and the coat of arms on the reverse, the chair was part of the official office furnishings of the Parliament of Lower Austria, where it was used by senior politicians in a governmental setting. Good vintage condition with age-appropriate wear and visible signs of use.
