Beschrijving van de verkoper
Tintin – Early French collection (12 albums) – 1946–1963 – Linen spine editions – Hergé - First Editions + Reprints
Description
Offered is a coherent and attractive private collection from the series
Les Aventures de Tintin
by Hergé, consisting of 12 original French-language albums published by Casterman between 1946 and 1963.
This lot is particularly notable for its strong group of early post-war linen spine editions (1946–1948), which are highly sought after by collectors and significantly more desirable than later mass-produced editions.
Contents of the lot
Early post-war Casterman editions (linen spine – key part of the lot)
• L’Étoile mystérieuse (1946) - Ré
• Le Lotus Bleu (1946) - EO
• Tintin au Congo (1946) - EO
• L’Île Noire (1946) - Ré
• Le Secret de la Licorne (1946) - Ré
• Le Trésor de Rackham le Rouge (1947) - Ré
• Le Sceptre d’Ottokar (1947) - EO
• Le Crabe aux Pinces d’Or (1947) - Ré
• Les 7 Boules de Cristal (1948) - EO
These albums all belong to the first post-war production cycle of Casterman, a period widely regarded by collectors as one of the most desirable for Tintin albums.
Later early editions
• Les Cigares du Pharaon (1955) - Ré
• Tintin au Tibet (1960) - Ré
• Les Bijoux de la Castafiore (1963) - EO
• Early albums feature linen spines and matte covers
• No ISBN (pre-1970 production)
Condition
Overall condition: good to very good, especially considering age.
• Covers: fresh colours with light edge and corner wear
• Spines: linen spines intact, minor wear at top and bottom
• Interiors: clean and well preserved, normal paper ageing
• Bindings: solid and complete
The collection presents very well as a coherent set.
Important note
All albums belong to the early post-war Casterman production period and are not later mass reprints from the 1970s or later.
Collector’s perspective
This is a well-preserved and consistent early Tintin collection, with a strong focus on the highly desirable 1946–1948 linen spine editions.
Such grouped early sets are increasingly difficult to assemble and are particularly attractive to collectors seeking authenticity and period consistency.
“A rare opportunity to acquire a coherent early post-war Tintin collection in collectible condition.”
