Trois Rivières 1969 - Vieux Rhum de Plantation de la Martinique - b. rond 1990 - 70cl
Nr. 95443288

The Trois Rivières plantation was established on land briefly owned by Colbert in the 17th century. It owes its name to the three rivers that border the cane fields: Oman, Bois d'Inde, and Saint Pierre. Sugar production intensified in the second half of the 18th century. The estate began producing rum in 1785 under the leadership of its new owner, Etienne Isaïe Marraud Des Grottes. Sugar production was discontinued in favor of rum production in 1905, after Amédée Aubéry acquired the estate. His son expanded the plantation, transferred the Dizac distillery, located in Diamant, to the Trois Rivières lands, and specialized in the production of agricultural rum. In 1953, the Marraud des Grottes family, already owners of the Duquesne distillery, bought the estate and marketed the rum under this name until 1972. Bought in 1994 by Bellonnie & Bourdillon, already owners of Mauny, the distillery moved from Sainte Luce to Rivière Pilote in 2004.
