In dit portret probeer ik niets toe te voegen en niets weg te nemen.
Gewoon haar lichaam, haar jaren, haar blik.
De huid vertelt hier het verhaal dat wij vaak liever verbergen:
de sporen van leven, verlies, weer opstaan, doorgaan.
Het is precies dát wat ik wil eren.
Voor mij is ouder worden geen einde, maar een vorm van helderheid.
Alles wat ooit ruis was, valt weg. Wat overblijft is puur:
een lichaam dat niet liegt, een gezicht dat niet doet alsof.
In Precious Bodies gaat het niet om schoonheid zoals we die gewend zijn,
maar om de moed om gezien te worden zoals je bent.
Een lichaam dat de tijd draagt zonder zich ervoor te verontschuldigen.

Ik werk uitsluitend met hoogwaardige materialen: professioneel geprepareerd linnen of gladde panelen, en olieverf van topkwaliteit, rijk aan pigment. Elk werk is met aandacht en toewijding gemaakt – bedoeld om lang mee te gaan, niet alleen qua materiaal, maar ook in betekenis.

Francien Krieg (b. 1973) is a distinguished Dutch artist renowned for her compelling explorations of the human form, particularly focusing on themes of aging and vulnerability. A graduate of the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, she initially engaged in conceptual installations, utilizing materials like meat and rubber to create thought-provoking pieces that delve into human fragility.
