Edmund Leja (1919–2002) was a prolific glamour and nude photographer active from the 1940s into the early 1980s, best known for elegant, outdoors-leaning studies of models and for work published in mid-century men’s magazines. He photographed several Playboy Playmates—including Teddi Smith (July 1960) and Donna Michelle (PMOM Dec. 1963; PMOY 1964)—and his images of figures such as Diane Webber circulated widely. Beyond studio work, Leja authored popular how-to titles like Photography Handbook, Prize Winning Photography, and Salon Photography, which helped codify practical techniques for aspiring photographers.
