Triptych, "Eastern Brocade: Three Hundred-Year Celebration of the Toshogu" 東錦東照宮三百年祭 - Kojima Shōgetsu 小島勝月 (act ca 1870-1904) - Japonia - Meiji period (1868-1912)

Original woodblock print triptych - Kojima Shōgetsu 小島勝月 (active around 1870-1904) - "Azuma nishiki Toshogu sanbyaku nen matsuri" 東錦東照宮三百年祭 (Eastern Brocade: Three Hundred Year Celebration of the Toshogu) - Japan - 1889 (Meiji 22) Rare triptych by Kojima Shōgetsu 小島勝月 (active around 1870–1904), last name is Kojima, first name Katsumi, he started his activities around 1888 (Meiji 21), he mainly made sashi-e (illustrations of newspapers), prints related to the constitution, Chinese-Japanese war and industrial exhibitions.Probably issued in 1889 (Meiji 22) by Tetsujiro Asaga 浅賀鉄次郎 (???)This probably is the "Nikko Toshogu Shrine" dedicated to Tokugawa Ieyasu, founder of the Tokugawa Shogunate. During the Edo period, the Tokugawa shogunate performed stately processions from Edo to the Nikkō Tōshō-gū along the Nikkō Kaidō. The shrine's annual spring and fall festivals mimic these occasions and are known as 'processions of a thousand warriors'. Condition: good, a few small restored wormholes, slightly more vague colours, centre panel slightly creased. Remains of backing. Wonderful print quality with a beautiful register (the correct adjustment of the colour blocks to the mother block). Beautiful prints, with a majestic scene rendered with a talent for drawing! Please refer to the provided photographs for a better understanding of the item´s condition. Provenance: The seller can certify that the lot was legally purchased Shipping method: registered mail, securely packaged. All items are shipped 12/24 hours after payment is made. Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer´s responsibility. Please check with your country´s customs office to determine what these additional costs will be before bidding.
