During this period, Seiko produced a number of watches specifically for international markets, often omitting domestic branding while maintaining the same technical standards. Historically, the movement architecture used in the Empire pocket watches later formed the technical foundation for Japan’s first wristwatch, the Laurel, making this model a direct ancestor of modern Japanese wristwatches. As such, Empire pocket watches occupy a crucial position in the evolution of Japanese horology.
