The lot contains 2 Original Awards of the German Empire:

1. The presented award bar (bar) is the Prussian Landwehr Long Service Award, Class II (Landwehr-Dienstauszeichnung II. Klasse).
Description and Historical Context
Purpose: This award was instituted by King Friedrich Wilhelm IV of Prussia on January 16, 1842, and was awarded to non-commissioned officers and privates for faithful service in the Prussian
Landwehr (militia/reserve).

2. Prussian Medal "For Service in the Reserve and Landwehr," 2nd Class (German: Landwehr-Dienstauszeichnung II. Klasse). The medal was established in 1913 and was awarded for long-term, loyal service in the reserves and territorial troops (Landwehr) of the German Empire.
Medal Description:
Material: Bronze or copper.
Obverse: In the center is a royal crown, surrounded by the inscription "TREUE DIENSTE RESERVE LANDWEHR" ("Loyal Service in the Reserve and Landwehr") around the rim.
Reverse: Contains the four-line inscription "Landwehr-Dienstauszeichnung II. Klasse" ("Award for Service in the Landwehr, 2nd Class").
Class: The 2nd Class medal was awarded for 12 years of service. There was also a 1st class in the form of a buckle (Bandschnalle), established earlier, in 1842.
