This artwork depicts a woman in a kimono standing amidst falling snow. "Botanyuki" refers to large, moisture-heavy snowflakes that fall on relatively warm days in early spring. The artist studied under Tsuguharu Foujita, held a solo exhibition in Paris, France, and absorbed Western art influences, combining traditional line drawings with modern compositions.
Artist Profile:
1914 Born in Gunma Prefecture.
1939 Won the Asahi Shimbun Prize at the Holy War Art Exhibition and gained the acquaintance of Tsuguharu Foujita.
1974 Held the Paris exhibition "Flowers and Butterflies" at the Galerie Vendôme in Paris.
1975 Won an award at the Le Salon exhibition in France.
1976 Responsible for the cover art of Fujin Koron.
1983 Passed away at the age of 69.
